Two thematic ideas that interest me are Politics and the Social Order and Invention and Fantasy. Many films such as the Hunger Games, divergent and V for Vendetta deal with politics and social order. They are all dystopian based movies that I enjoy. The idea that the government once was trying to create a utopia where people are equal or somehow safe and happy, but along the way the cause became corrupt and unjust interests me. Their greed from having power changed the fate of the human race for worse. Or like in V for Vendetta the movie is able to tell history in a more modern way. It pulls out the themes of corrupt government and acting out against it with history behind it because it is based in 1984 where V acts out against the rise of a totalitarian government. To be able to share history in a new way very much fascinates me.
The other thematic idea that interests me is Invention and Fantasy. I love when a movie is able to create a whole new world and bring you into it. Just like the like the 2010 live action version of Alice in Wonderland or any of the Harry Potter movies I could easily become so amerced into this world that I feel connected with the characters in a whole new way. Also the thought process of creating a whole new world different from our own interests me too. The way you must use your imagination to create ideas not normal to anything in our society is fascinating. Overall, I just enjoy any movie that deals with ideas beyond our society and most of all any movie that can amerce me in a way that the character's emotions can effect me.
