Hitchcock decided to use a long panning shot throughout the film. Using this creates a unusual point of view for the viewer. You are almost watching the movie as if it were a stage. This original concept also adds suspense along with the music. Also, with this you feel you are with the character spying on the neighbors. Almost a sense of invasion of privacy. The music adds a unique cinematic and suspenseful effect, adding to the idea that you are going to get caught for spying. Overall, I believe Hitchcock used all these effects to create an interesting film that brings you into its scenes.
I enjoy this scene because it finally brings all of the people together after we have been watching them for so long. Also the shock that someone killed her dog really changes the way you perceive the movie. With this scene the rest of the movie becomes more suspenseful because we want to know who needed to kill her dog. Over all this panic it still feels like a clue game where we want to figure out "who done it".
Overall I enjoyed this movie. Using techniques like suspense and unique angles really kept me interested. The murder mystery was also a fun idea. The fact that it felt like we were invading peoples' privacies' to uncover the truth made me on edge. Also using the style as almost a stage brings you into the movie. Because Rear Window was able to make me feel as though I was with them spying is a clear distinction that the movie was well done.
